Executive Functioning Coaching

Does Your Child Struggle with Everday Challenges?

If any of these sound familiar, your child may be experiencing challenges with executive functioning skills—the mental processes that help us plan, focus, remember, and manage everyday tasks. These skills are essential for success in school, friendships, and daily life.

  • Struggle to stay organized and manage their time?

  • Forget to turn in homework—even when it’s complete?

  • Feel anxious about going to school or tackling assignments?

  • Complain of frequent stomachaches or nausea before school?

  • Procrastinate or have difficulty starting tasks?

  • Seem easily overwhelmed by responsibilities?

  • Have trouble managing emotions or coping with stress?

If you have landed on this page, you may be seeking support for your child, adolescent, or college-aged student. Like many parents, you might find yourself caught in nightly power struggles around completing academic work. Maybe your child procrastinates, spends hours scrolling on their phone, or simply avoids schoolwork altogether.

The frustration can feel overwhelming. You might be concerned about their grades, their ability to finish the school year, or whether they will graduate on time. Some parents worry about long-term outcomes, such as their child taking years to finish a college degree or even stepping away from school entirely. Thoughts about their future career, independence, and ability to thrive as an adult can weigh heavily.

This is where our Executive Functioning Coaches step in to provide support and guidance for both you and your child. At Welsh Therapy, we empower students to strengthen critical executive functioning skills like time management, organization, and focus. While some students naturally develop these abilities, others may face challenges such as ADHD, learning differences, or the need for additional support. Our personalized approach helps every student build these foundational skills, unlocking their potential for academic success and personal growth. Here's how our process works:

Parents and Daughter

Step 1: We Start With You, The Parents

The first step in our process is to meet with you alone. Whether your child is in elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, your insights are invaluable.

  • We listen to your perspective and learn about your child's struggles with academics, including when these challenges first began.

  • We discuss the strategies you've already tried, identifying what has worked and what hasn’t.

  • We explore ways to connect with your child that can inspire motivation and build trust.

You know your child better than anyone, and your input guides us as we develop a plan tailored to their needs. After this initial meeting, we ask your child to sign a simple consent form, giving us permission to communicate with you as needed. Most children readily agree to this step, understanding that we are all working toward the same goal.

Once we have your insights, we’re ready to meet with your child.

Step 2: Connecting With Your Child

Our next step is to meet with your child, armed with the knowledge you’ve shared. Often, children feel frustrated, angry, or embarrassed about their struggles. We take a compassionate and understanding approach:

  • We help them move past feelings of anger, which often mask deeper emotions like shame or fear of failure.

  • We assure them that the past is behind them and focus on helping them move forward with confidence and purpose.

  • We emphasize that we are a team working together to help them become their personal best, both in academics and beyond.

We let your child know that their potential is unique to them. Success does not mean achieving someone else’s standard but reaching their own best, whether that means striving for A’s, C’s, or somewhere in between.

Group of Friends

Step 3: Building Accountability & Trust

Once we establish trust, we focus on accountability and consistent communication:

  • We work with your child virtually, offering regular check-ins via text, calls, and video sessions.

  • We address feelings of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and lack of focus, helping them rebuild confidence in their abilities.

  • If they "ghost" us or miss check-ins, we keep reaching out—not to nag, but to remind them that we are in this together.

We believe in their potential, even if they don’t see it yet. Our role is to guide them, provide structure, and help heal the fears and challenges they associate with schoolwork.

Ready To Help Your Child Thrive?

Our goal is to support your child in developing the skills they need to succeed academically and personally. Executive Functioning Coaching is not about perfection; it’s about progress. Whether your child needs help with time management, organization, focus, or motivation, we are here to help them become their personal best.
