Meet lynne

Lynne Welsh

What a difficult time it is in our country and our world.  In my psychotherapy work with teens who have Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders, it is proving very challenging and triggering to be home 24/7 with their families.  There is so much to be anxious about for kids who are prone to anxiety.  School provides a very good structure for teens to have a set schedule.  Now for many that is gone.  Teens are home creating their own schedules. For teens who are angry and acting out, it can feel like they are in prison at home with social distancing.  They want to break out, and if they can't their parents are having to hold space for, and take the brunt of, all of their anger and frustration.

I am here to help with prove counseling methods. I will connect with you and your adolescent virtually, or in person.  I've been working with adolescents for over 30 years and have never seen a more challenging time than in this pandemic. This is a time when medication may be necessary to help alleviate the symptoms of depression/anxiety and anger. If the Pediatrician or Family Doctor are open to prescribing, I can collaborate with them as well.  If a psychiatry consult is necessary, I can assist in setting up an appointment. During the process of medication stabilization, I am available in between sessions via phone or text for the family and the adolescent.

Through my work with your teen/adolescent with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) I wil create a comprehensive treatment model. I work with the family and I see the teen multiple times a week. In rare cases, when the client is a danger to themselves or others, the adolescent will first need an inpatient setting. I will coordinate that as well and follow your teen closely while in the facility.  I will provide a detailed Aftercare Plan that I coordinate with the family and the client before being discharged.  The family and I decide length of stay as a team.  The parents and I will make decisions together every step of the way.

I am here to help.  It is overwhelming for parents to have a teen struggling with these issues during this time of social distancing. I am here to alleviate some of the stress and step in to guide you in the process of your child and your family's healing.

I have experience working with public and private schools, and providers throughout Bucks County (including Doylestown, New Hope and Yardley).
