Meet Anita

Anita Puran, PhD

Anita is a certified coach in Positive Psychology.  She works with women in transition.  Anita has a special interest in working with women who are in, or transitioning from, a narcissistic relationship. In addition, Anita works with women who have experienced trauma, women who are struggling with relationship or intimacy issues, women who are working through a difficult divorce, and women who have become single moms with very little support.

Anita provides meaningful support to her clients, and helps them to identify ways to empower themselves so that they no longer feel helpless, dis-empowered  or vulnerable.  Anita views her clients through a psychoanalytical lens, and works to identify the ways in which the current struggles that are present in our primary romantic relationships may be connected with some aspects of early family relationships. Anita does the deep work of understanding the clients issues, and from where they may have originated.  Becoming conscious of how we are in relationship to others, can often free us from some of the conflict or discomfort present in our romantic relationships.

A note from Anita: I believe the relationship between the therapist and the client is a partnership. It's about working with the client to help them navigate through the difficult transitional stages in their lives. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space for open and honest communication.

Anita earned her PhD from Rutgers. She is an advocate for the development of health policies that support women and children, especially that of maternal and child health. Anita is the Co-Founder of Smile Bangladesh, a non-profit that provided free surgeries to children who had cleft palate, and served as the programs Executive Director for five years.  Anita is available for virtual Telehealth sessions.
