Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night feeling anxious, heart racing, with a million worries running through your mind? Have you ever worried that your child will be in school and suddenly get that wave of anxiety, feeling like they want to run out of class and you wonder how they will cope. Well, there are tools that can help in these and may other situations and tapping is one of the best. Sue is our Certified Health Coach and Certified EFT Practitioner. She can work with you through a combination of talk therapy and tapping. EFT is a scientifically proven way to reduce stress responses in our bodies while decreasing cortisol levels as well. And the best part is she can teach you how to tap on your own as well. Imagine being given this tool to be able to take responsibility for your own wellbeing. Or giving that gift to your kids so they can help themselves when they need it most. Imagine how empowering that would be! Here is a little more about tapping.
WHAT IS TAPPING?
Tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple yet powerful healing technique used to provide relief from physical pain and emotional distress. Tapping is a combination of modern day psychology and the ancient Eastern healing practice of acupuncture (without the needles). By focusing on an issue and tapping on meridian end points, we stimulate our own energy and healing power. Our brains house the stress response center called the amygdala. When triggered by stress, the amygdala floods our body with a stress hormone called cortisol, potentially sending waves of anxiety, panic, illness and pain through the body. Studies at Harvard Medical School have shown that by tapping on our meridian ends points, we can significantly reduce the stress response and cortisol levels in the body. Tapping also sends a calming signal to the amygdala reminding our body and mind that we are safe.
WHAT CAN TAPPING HELP?
Tapping can be used daily to help reduce stress, anxiety, negative emotions, and physical ailments. Here are some examples where tapping can help us live a happier more fulfilled life:
Anxiety
Depression
Fears and Phobias
Pain
Insomnia
Limiting Beliefs
Emotional Freedom
GREAT NEWS!
The great news is all of these wonderful healing benefits can be done with a practitioner or on your own, anytime and anywhere. A certified practitioner will guide you to deeper healing when traumas, past events, limiting beliefs and negative thoughts are involved. The basic technique is simply bringing awareness and acceptance to the negative emotion or physical symptom you are feeling and then tapping on the 9 meridian endpoints. Doing this taps into our body’s energy and restores it to a balanced state. Anyone of any age can tap. Giving ourselves the gift and power to heal our bodies and minds is a beautiful thing.
